Scientists Who Believe: 21 Tell Their Own Stories by Eric C. Barrett & David Fisher, Moody Press Chicago, IL, 1984, 208 pages

Our book for this month is a collection of testimonies. The writers are scientifically trained people who believe in God. Several of them are very well known, including astronauts James Irwin and Jack Lousma, Dr. Everett Koop (former U.S. Surgeon General), and Dr. Boris Dotsenko (former head of nuclear physics in the Institute of Physics in Kiev, Ukraine). Eight of the 21 scientist are from countries other than the United States, with several coming from countries where belief brings persecution.

This is an interesting book. No two stories are the same, and the experiences are enormously varied and come from different vantage points. The book is not of doctrinal value, but it does offer considerable apologetic value as you get to see what contributed to each scientist's faith from an apologetic standpoint.

We recommend this book as interesting reading for those with a scientific background. It is not a book to be used on apologetic doctrinal issues.
